I started my adventure with birds at the age of 8, the first species I kept was the budgerigar.
Cockatiel and the Norfolk Island Parakeet then joined.
I got my first Zebra finches in 1997. I am inextricably linked with this species to this day.
In the following years, parrots were superseded by other petty exotic species, such as : Neochmia ruficauda,Amadina fasciata, Erythrura psittacea, Euodice malabarica and Euodice cantans, Tiaris canorus, Stagonopleura guttata, Geopelia cuneata, Poephila acuticauda, Chloebia gouldiae, Poephila personata, Poephila cincta, Neochmia modesta, Lonchura punctulata and also color canaries.
Passion for animals, especially birds, resulted in the choice of animal science at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań as a field of study, which I graduated with a master’s degree, defending the thesis “ A trial of natural rearing of Australian zebra finches (Poephila guttata castanotis) on low-protein foods devoid of animal protein ”.
After graduation, I stayed at the university. After a year of work in the laboratory of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Management, I started working at the Experimental Station of Animal Nutrition in Gorzyń as a zootechnician.Years worked in the plant together with prof. dr hab. dr.h.c. Andrzej Rutkowski, resulted in broadening the knowledge about the maintenance and nutrition of not only exotic birds, but also poultry and pigeons.
Arasari toucans are currently the breeding project. I started my adventure with these birds in 2018. The first species were the black-necked arasari (Pteroglossus aracari). After a year of acclimatization, the breeding couple had their offspring in the nest box, in the internal aviary. These birds can still be observed on our website today. Other species that appeared in the aviary are: Black-headed Arasari (Pteroglossus viridis), Pteroglossus humboldti and Brown-eyed Arasari (Pteroglossus castanotis). Black-headed arasari is quite popular in Europe, brown-eyed arasari are also quite popular, while Pteroglossus humboldti is a very rare species of arasari among European toucan breeders.
The priority is the breeding of birds through the natural rearing of all bird species in the aviary.
